Príncipe Pío Transport Interchange

The Príncipe Pío Transport Interchange is a key mobility hub in Madrid, connecting the radial bus lines entering the city with the Metro network and EMT buses. Each year, more than 32 million people use this facility, which is part of the Interchange Plan promoted by the Madrid Transport Consortium and was inaugurated in 2007.

Designed to offer an experience similar to that of airports, the interchange features 34 bus platforms, 32 commercial premises, and constant monitoring of environmental factors such as pollutants, temperature, noise, and humidity, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for users.

Thanks to its capacity and design, this facility has enabled thousands of daily buses to be removed from surface streets, significantly improving urban mobility. In addition to relieving congestion in one of the capital’s busiest areas, the interchange provides an efficient, comfortable, and well-connected transport system that facilitates the daily journeys of thousands of people.

An efficient, accessible, and well-connected node

  • Connectivity: The infrastructure serves as a convergence point for radial bus lines entering Madrid, which then distribute passengers throughout the city via the Metro network and the buses of the Madrid Municipal Transport Company (EMT).
  • Passenger flow management: Its efficient design, featuring two underground levels and well-distributed access points, minimizes crowding and reduces waiting times.
  • Accessibility and services: Equipped with elevators, ramps, and clear signage, the interchange is accessible for people with reduced mobility. Additionally, complementary services such as shops, dining options, and luggage storage enhance the user experience, providing added comfort for travelers.
