From May 31st to September 12th, the western section of Line 6 of the Madrid Metro will be closed due to maintenance works. This closure marks the beginning of a historic transformation: it will be the first metro line to operate without drivers.
The works include the renovation of more than 23 km of track, the installation of platform screen doors at all stations, and the implementation of an automated system that will allow trains to run every two minutes, increasing capacity by 17% and enhancing safety.
Service will be suspended between Moncloa and Méndez Álvaro stations, affecting key stops such as Avenida de América, Príncipe Pío, Puerta del Ángel, Oporto, Legazpi, and Plaza Elíptica, among others.
To facilitate travel, free alternative bus routes have been set up, and the use of other metro lines is recommended:

From Legazpi to Moncloa, Line 3 can be used.

From Oporto to Callao, Line 5.

From Príncipe Pío to Plaza de España, Line 10.
